The Ysgol Bro Banw school choir was very entertaining

Concert 11th November 2023

Thank you to all those who came to All Saints Church last night for an evening of music and remembrance.

It was very moving to hear the names of all the fallen from Ammanford and area - 104 names in all - read out by Y6 pupils from Ysgol Bro Banw.

We are grateful to Major Ken Burton for organising this.

What a a  lovely evening.

Ammanford Town Silver Band led by Glyn Davies were excellent as always.

We were captivated by the beautiful voice of 16 year old Cary’s Morgan.

What a treat to be part of Ammanford Silver Band’s annual concert on Friday.

The wonderful sound of brass and percussion instruments resonated round the walls of All Saints Church. We also enjoyed the beautiful singing of Ysgol Parcyrhun.

Lovely to sing for an appreciative audience.

9th May 2023

Côr Persain held an open evening last night and were very pleased to welcome five potential new members. It was a fun night. We practised ‘With a Little Help from my Friend’ for #helpukrainesong

Thanks to our clever MD we were performing and recording it in less than an hour.

Keep out an eye for the recording. It will be available on YouTube very soon.

29th April 2023

Last night was a wonderful celebration of music performed by two choirs namely Cor Persain and Cor Meibion Maesteg.  They came together in Ammanford to entertain an appreciative audience at All Saints Church.

Both choirs have the same musical director Huw Morgan. Choirs performed their own musical pieces but came together to sing "Anthem" from the musical Chess and the Elvis Presley classic "American Trilogy".

We had two wonderful pianists, Laura Deenik and Dr. Catherine Morgan.  Catherine also played the organ very effectively during the joint pieces.

This together with soloist Carys Morgan made a very special evening. As you may have noticed with the surname "Morgan" Huw is the Musical Director, Catherine is Huw's wife and Carys is their daughter an extremely talented musical family.

With the troubles of the last three years easing it is nice for choirs to be able to get back on the road, performing at different venues.

1st April 2023

Great to meet up with the lovely Robat Arwyn tonight.

Côr Persain are enjoying learning the song we commissioned him to write for us “Nodau’r Gan”.

We hope to perform it in our annual concert in the autumn.

We met him in Tumble Hall at “An Evening with Robat Arwyn”, a great night in aid of Angor.

10th March 2023

Côr Persain performed in this centenary concert in Tycroes on Friday March 10th. St. Edmund's Church is celebrating its 100th birthday.

Our MD, Huw Morgan, has been with us for a year and as 70% of our ladies are new to the choir and our repertoire is new we have started from scratch. Apart from an open evening this is the first opportunity to sing for the public.

We consider ourselves to be a new, up and coming choir and it would be great if you could join us

Hightlight from our Christmas meal get together.

It was ever so refreshing to be able to meet and chat in a friendly atmosphere at The Kings Head in Capel Hendre.

Great food and fantastic company.

Cheers! Here's to great and succesful 2023.
