December 19 - Concert with Phoenix Male Voice Choir

Gowerton Conservative Club, Swansea.

A lovely end to 2

014 with a great selection of Christmas songs. Persain's programme included Shepherd's Farewell by Berlioz, Rockin' around the Christmas Tree, I Orwedd mewn Preseb and Carol of the Bells. We ended with Rutter's Star Carol which was performed by both choirs then enjoyed the lovely turkey and stuffing rolls!

December 16 - Annual Christmas Celebration Concert

Amman Centre, Ammanford, 7.30 p.m.

Another very successful evening, full of fun, during which the Amman Centre was filled to capacity.

We were joined by Ammanford Town Silver Band and a  great night was had by all.

December 13 - Christmas Fayre

National Botanic Gardens

Here the choir sang in the Great Glasshouse with its wonderful acoustics. Our programme

of twelve Christmas songs was hugely enjoyed by all. The programme included Seren

Nadolig, Rutter's Candlelight Carol and Ding Dong Merrily on High.

December 6 - Aberglasney Winter Fayre

Aberglasney Gardens, 11.00 - 12.00.

This was the first visit to Aberglasney for many of our choristers. We sang in a marquee on a

very cold day, one of several choirs to do so.  Crowds of people flocked to Aberglasney to enjoy the day and the wide array of stalls with local crafts and produce.  The mulled wine we received after our spot was extremely welcome.

November 28 - Dyfed Powys Police, Carmarthen

First World War Commemoration Service

We were very honoured to be asked to sing at this wonderful ceremony in memory of the sixteen  police officers who lost their lives in the Great War.  It was a very moving occasion with relatives and descendants of the officers remembered being present and there was hardly a dry eye in the house when Persain sang For the Fallen.

November 21 - Rotary Charity Christmas Concert

Bethany Chapel, Ammanford, 6.30 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Ammanford invited us to sing at their charity concert and we were very pleased to support them.

This was our first chance to sing some of our Christmas repertoire.

November 15 - Annual Concert

 Amman Valley Comprehensive School

Our third annual concert was very well attended.  The evening was compered by Rev. Lyn Rees of Saron. Our guests were renowned local baritone Aled Edwards and Ammanford Town Silver Band. We finished with a rousing chorus of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

September 19 - 21 - Visit to Plymouth

Concert in St. Matthias' Church, Brentford Park

The choir

travelled to Plymouth by coach, arriving on Friday evening. The weather was glorious and we were able to dine al fresco in the dock area.  We spent Saturday at leisure in Plymouth before a late afternoon rehearsal.  The concert, with poetry readings to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, was in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, and was very well received,  We enjoyed our first performance of Troyte's Chant with some excerpts from Under Milkwood prepared by our Chairman Hilary Thomas.

July 5th  - Tenby Flower Festival, Saint Mary's Church

We had a lovely day in Tenby and sang at midday in the beautiful church of Saint

Mary. This was the second occasion on which we had sung at the Flower  Festival.  Each time donations were for a charity of the church's choice.

May 20th - Saron Chapel

Persain was pleased to support the Chapel's efforts to raise funds for a new roof. This year is the centenary of the start of World War I and our first opportunity to perform For the Fallen along with two well known war poems.
